Concept: An ongoing portrait series dedicated to the portrayal of stress, frustration, and being overwhelmed.
Background: I started this series back in 2008 during my senior year of high school in Portland, Oregon. It began with four portraits of my friends during Mrs. Puttman's photography class, and over time, this project has evolved into a permanent series. The concept derives from a personal struggle with stress, emotions, and lack of self-worth. We've all been down a similar path: a sense of not feeling good enough, of being angry, overwhelmed, frustrated, anxious, sad, afraid, numb, disgusted, confined and suppressed. We 'kill' ourselves in our work, family, relationships, love, friends, appearances, and expectations.
We consume ourselves. We are eating ourselves alive.
